We see a lot of people out on the grind when we are in the streets networking. One of the people and brands that we see CONSTANTLY is MAKIN' IT MAGAZINE and it's founder, KELBY CANNICK. The publication has a ton of useful info and offers that can help artist, labels and more get the word about about their brand. Check it out and get acquainted with the magazine and the movement.
Our goal at Makin’ It Magazine is to provide aspiring artists and industry professionals with the information, opportunities and resources they need to succeed in today’s urban music industry. What started as a simple four page newsletter in 2007, has grown to a nationally distributed magazine with various online properties, mixtape series and promotional programs designed to connect independents to the industry. With a focus on education and community, our goal is to help our subscribers turn their passions into a careers.
“Support those that support you.” -Kelby Cannick
This once a month event held at the legendary Apache Cafe is one of the best in Atlanta for artist to showcase their performance skills. It is hosted by Mic Sic & Big Rec and has a three person panel of judges that changes each showcase. Artist are given REAL feedback from the panel and there is always a crowd of people who cam to WACTH the performances, not just a room full of other artist! We highly suggest this one for the artist, go out and see if you can pass The Bar Exam, or will you have to "pass the mic" Follow them on twitter at @BarExamOpenMic
